VALENTINE’S DAY

Valentine’s Day is the festival of lovers. It is celebrated on 14 February.

People send an anonymous card to the person they are in love with on Valentine’s Day.

The name of the sender of the card remains a secret. People never sign the cards.

St. Valentine was a Christian man (saint) who was put to death for his beliefs.

People say that he left a message to his beloved girlfriend on the wall of his prison cell, signed “Your Valentine”.

Today you can buy lots of cards and presents to send on Valentine’s Day.

In Roman times people already celebrated a festival of love in the month of February. This festival was called Lupercalia and it was the festival of the Roman gods Pan and Juno.

Valentine’s Poems

           Love is...

            ...Something we can’t explain

            ...something without equivalent

            ...Something we can’t define

It's falling asleep thinking about her

            It's dreaming about her

It's waking up thinking about her

It’s spending the day thinking about her

When we are close to this person...

            Our heart accelerates

            It's a strange sensation

            It's like getting no reaction

            If she says no...

            It's death

It's falling down an endless cliff

It's as if our heart will stop forever

            If she says yes...

It's the wish of crying it out loud to the world

It's to be the happiest guy in the world

It's hoping that moment won’t come to an end.
